7th grade Homework 5/13-5/17

This week we will continue our work with ELO 8 the feature article of your chosen career. In addition, be sure to continue reading The Giver. There will be questions relating to The Giver on the final exam.

Monday 5/13

Read Ch. 22 of The Giver
Answer these questions in 2-3 sentences.

1. How does Jonas use his memories in chapter 22 to help him and Gabriel during his journey?

2. How would you describe the relationship between Jonas and Gabriel? Why does Jonas feel this need to protect Gabe?

Tuesday 5/14

Read Ch. 23 of The Giver
Answer these questions in 2-3 sentences.

1. What waits for Jonas and Gabe at the top of the hill?

2. "For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing. Behind him, across the vast distances of space and time, from the places he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo," (Lowry, 179). What do you think happens to the community when Jonas leaves? Do you think the Giver is able to change the community? Do you think Jonas hears music coming from the community?

Wednesday 5/15

For your book project this month, write a three paragraph review of The Giver.

Thursday 5/16

Final copy of your ELO 8 feature article essay due Monday. Be sure to include your Works Cited page too!
